  • On entering or leaving the Dojo every student must bow and say 'OSS'.

  • All instructors must be addressed as 'Sensei' in the Dojo.

  • Late members must take up a kneeling position at the Dojo entrance and will wait to be given permission to enter.

  • 'OSS' is a word that signifies respect amongst fellow Karate-ka and is generally used in the following circumstances:
    » When a student is given a command, advice or is questioned by the instructor.
    » When bowing at the start and end of the session.
    » When bowing to your partner before sparring.
    » When your name is called out at grading or in any other situation which respect should be shown.

  • Students should make every effort to have their toe and finger nails clean and cut short.

  • Jewelry should not be worn and items such as rings or bracelets should have tape wrapped around them.

  • Students should train in clean, white Gis.

  • Members and students should not swear, smoke, spit, chew or behave in any uncouth or disrespectful manner.

  • The IASK License should be applied for no later than one month after the first training session.

  • Students should not leave the Dojo during training without obtaining permission from the instructor.

  • All students and members of the IASK must never use their Karate skills outside the confines of the Dojo.

  • A full copy of the IASK Rules and Constitution and rules for grading and competitions is obtainable from the secretary.

  • IASK Black Belts must obtain the express permission of Chief Instructor and Chairman Mr. N.B. Adamou should they wish to open up a club of their own within the IASK.

  • IASK Black Belts who open up clubs not affiliated to IASK will be dismissed from the IASK
